Raising Awareness Activities

Activities undertaken by MAF and ERMA New Zealand to raise awareness of their roles and responsibilities; and improve the operation of the HSNO Act (1996) in relation to compliance and enforcement of new organisms

  • MAF and ERMA New Zealand organised a workshop for containment facility staff held in Wellington on 29 June 2007. The programme topics covered "Best Practice" including quality management systems, auditors, staff training and internal audits. We had very positive feedback to the day, with approximately 80 attendees.
  • Keeping the travelling bug in the box - A joint MAF-ERMA workshop was held in Wellington on 16 March, 2006. The purpose of the workshop was to discuss issues concerning, the packaging, labelling, documentation and transport of new organisms There were about 60 participants at the workshop including containment facility operators, IBSC members, and MAF and ERMA New Zealand staff.
